Tesla Now Wants to Launch… Restaurants?
Three years ago, Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted that he wanted to “put an old school drive-in, roller skates & rock restaurant at one of the new Tesla Supercharger locations in Los Angeles.” Pretty much everyone thought it was a joke, but it could become a reality soon enough.
Musk once again expressed his desire for a 50s-style restaurant back in April of this year. And now we’ve learned that Tesla has filed a new trademark for its brand under restaurant services, likely in a move to enhance the charging experience for customers.

The trademark application covers Tesla’s logo, name and fonts. This seems to suggest that said restaurants will be branded as “Tesla.”
To tell you the truth, it’s not the craziest idea the company has had. Even though charging at Tesla’s Superchargers is known to be particularly fast, why not offer drivers a fun way to kill some time and grab a bite while their car is plugged in? Audi will soon launch a pilot in Germany for a new kind of charging station with a lounge and other entertainment.
Of course, we don’t expect Tesla to run its own restaurants and start flipping burgers. Rather, the company will probably partner with established restaurant owners.
What do you think? Is it a good plan or are there enough places to eat near Superchargers already?
