This Chevrolet C8 Corvette Costs $500 and is Fully Electric

The eighth-generation (C8) Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is filling the order books just as quickly as we thought it would, and most of the units that come out of the factory are higher-trimmed models that cost significantly more than the base price of just under $70,000.

At a much more attainable level, here is the brand new, 1:10-scale, remote-controlled C8 Corvette Stingray from R/C car specialist Traxxas. And you can bet many enthusiasts were eagerly waiting for that one, too.

The body is a perfect replica of the actual Corvette and an integrated quick-release system means there are no visible clips. The simulated LT2 V8 is visible beneath the rear “glass” panel, while authentic black-chrome wheels fill the fenders.

Furthermore, the wheels emulate one of the 19-inch designs available with the C8 Corvette. They are attached to a new 4TEC 3.0 chassis that’s longer and wider than the previous generation built by Traxxas.

All electronics are weatherproof, the differentials are sealed, and an optional light package adds functional headlights and brake lights.

The company says there are three drive modes to choose from: Sport, Race and Training, the last one designed for beginners. By the way, drive is sent through all four wheels and allows a top speed of 48 km/h.

Available in four different colours, the new Chevrolet C8 Corvette Stingray R/C from Traxxas will ship early May in the U.S. and a month later in Canada, where pricing is set at $530,65 (battery and charger sold separately). Just like die-cast replicas of this mid-engined Corvette, it will likely sell fast, so don’t waste any time.
