First Polestar 2 Deliveries in Canada Have Begun
The Car Guide’s 2021 New Car of the Year is finally hitting the streets. Deliveries of the Polestar 2 in Canada have just begun.
“Polestar 2 is our first fully electric car, which makes the deliveries in Canada a substantial milestone for the company,” said Hugues Bissonnette, Country Manager of Polestar Canada. “The Polestar 2 places us directly in the center of the burgeoning premium electric vehicle segment and is the car that will propel Polestar toward future growth.”

This comes a few days after Polestar announced the opening of the first “Polestar Spaces” in Montreal (Dec. 6), Vancouver (Dec. 18) and Toronto (Dec. 23).
While the company uses a mostly online-based business model, these brick and mortar storefronts allow consumers to discover Polestar vehicles in a more relaxed environment than traditional car dealerships. The Spaces are staffed by non-commissioned Polestar Specialists to assist customers with product information and facilitate test drives.
The Polestar 2 starts at $69,900, meaning it’s not eligible to any government incentive. Some of the available options include a Performance Pack ($6,000), Nappa leather interior ($5,000), 20-inch alloy wheels ($1,200) and metallic paint ($1,200).
As for output and range, this sleek, high-riding, five-door sedan generates 408 horsepower and 487 pound-feet of torque. Equipped with a 78-kWh battery, it allows drivers to travel officially up to 375 kilometres with a full charge.
Granted, that’s less than the Tesla Model 3, which offers up to 568 kilometres of range right now, but the Polestar 2 comes standard with AWD and boasts superior levels of refinement.
