2022 Genesis GV70 is Officially Revealed, Looks Pretty Sharp
The all-new Genesis GV70 is finally coming out of hiding—and out of its camouflage. The Korean luxury brand has indeed published the first official pictures showing the exterior and interior of its compact SUV.
Right away, we can see that the GV70 shares many design cues with the larger GV80, as well as other newly refreshed Genesis models including the G90 and G80 sedans, not to mention the future 2022 G70.

The “Athletic Elegance” philosophy is embodied by a big, diamond-shaped Crest Grille set lower than the signature Quad Lamps to emphasize the sporty character of the GV70. Chrome plates at the bottom of the bumpers make for a stronger-looking stance, while a Parabolic character line gracefully connects the headlights with the similarly shaped taillights.
On the sides, the tapered window profile, flowing roofline and prominent rear spoiler work to convey the silhouette of a sports coupe. Continuing around the vehicle, we also see some uniquely styled alloy wheels, as well as vertically arranged exhaust tips cast in a G-Matrix pattern element next to a body-coloured diffuser.
There’s even a GV70 Sport model (the red one) that further stands out with 21-inch wheels featuring a G-Matrix pattern, a distinctive front bumper, dark chrome finishes and a larger-diameter exhaust.
Inside, Genesis says the design is inspired by the aerodynamic sections of aircraft wings and aims to maximize passengers’ comfort and convenience. The steering wheel and upper dashboard, including the ultra-wide 14.5-inch infotainment screen, are almost identical to the GV80, but the controls down low and the centre console layout are totally unique.
The cabin is available in a two-tone combination with unusual colours like purple and bright red, the latter exclusive to the Sport model which also gets carbon fibre trim pieces and a sport steering wheel.
We don’t know all the technical details and powertrain options for the GV70 yet, but you can bet on a turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine producing close to 300 horsepower. One thing is for sure: all-wheel drive will come standard in Canada.
For the next two months, Genesis will hold test drives of approximately 100 uncamouflaged GV70 units across Korea for final testing before the official launch. The vehicle will go on sale in Canada next year as a 2022 model hoping to match competitors such as the Audi Q5, BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC and Acura RDX.
