Genesis GV70 Teased With Camo, Same Diamond-shaped Grille
As Hyundai’s emerging luxury brand, Genesis is experiencing growing pains. It has a tough time swaying potential customers and increasing sales despite some high-quality products.
Greater success will come with the addition of SUVs, of course. There’s the all-new 2021 Genesis GV80, unveiled at the beginning of the year and slated to arrive in Canada this fall, but it’s the future Genesis GV70 compact SUV that will become the company’s bestseller.

Styling will emulate the larger GV80 to a major extent. The camouflaged vehicle presented today by Genesis shows a similar diamond-shaped grille and signature quad lamps. From the sides, the lines make the GV70 appear a bit racier and sportier.
Over the next month, Genesis will test the GV70 on the roads of South Korea. Engineers have their work cut out for them, especially if they hope to match competitors such as the Audi Q5, BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC and Acura RDX.
While it’s still too early to know how the Genesis GV70 will be motivated, we expect to find the turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine that powers the base GV80 (300 hp), possibly with slightly reduced output.
Genesis says it will provide more details soon. An official debut will likely take place at the end of the year or early in 2021, which means the GV70 could go on sale in Canada next fall as a 2022 model. As always, we’ll keep you posted.
