Three-row Ford Escape Reportedly in the Works
Ford is still planning to hit the market with a three-row Escape that would accommodate up to seven people, but that model may not be available in North America, according to enthusiast website Ford Authority.
Currently in development under the codename CX430, the longer-wheelbase Ford Escape will share its C2 platform with the regular Escape, not to mention the Bronco Sport and Lincoln Corsair.

Bigger and boxier, with more room inside, the vehicle will likely adopt traditional Escape styling cues. The stretched roof will naturally integrate D-pillars.
Inside, the biggest change will be the additional bench seat, of course. We assume access will be provided by sliding second-row seats. As for the powertrain, the same options found in the Escape will probably be carried over.
Ford Authority anticipates the three-row Escape to be sold in Europe where it would replace a trio of models including the Edge, which is not particularly a good seller over there. Volkswagen, Honda, Mazda and Nissan are other manufacturers offering or planning to offer compact SUVs with a third row.
What about Canada? If the model ever lands here, chances are it would replace the Edge and be called “Escape Max” following the Expedition/Expedition Max formula. Production would take place in Louisville, Kentucky alongside the standard Escape.
More details should become available in the next few months.
