Watch: Tesla Makes Ventilators Using Model 3 Parts
While Elon Musk questioned the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic as recently as a few weeks ago, his most high-profile company is now busy producing medical equipment to help avoid a shortage.
Just like Ford and General Motors, Tesla has started making ventilators for people who contracted the virus and are fighting for their lives in hospitals.

In a video posted on its YouTube channel yesterday, the electric car manufacturer from California presents some of the work that’s going on inside its lab and how engineers are using Tesla car components to achieve quicker, more reliable results.
Want examples? The chamber that mixes air with oxygen comes from Tesla cars. There’s also a bunch of sensors and controllers that regulate pressure, flow and volume. A battery provides 20-40 minutes of power when patients need to be moved.
Additionally, Tesla’s ventilator design uses the infotainment computer from the Model 3 and critical data can be monitored on the compact sedan’s 15-inch touchscreen.
What the video doesn’t show is if there’s a Ludicrous Mode like on the Model S and Model X…
After Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink, OpenAI and The Boring Company, will Musk start his own medical equipment company? We’ll have to wait and see.
