What if the 2020 Corvette Had Kept a Front-mounted Engine?
The launch of the new eighth-generation (C8) 2020 Chevrolet Corvette has been a successful one to say the least. Customers quickly filled the order books and the automotive media named it the North American Car of the Year.
However, a certain number of fans were put off in varying degrees by the car’s radical styling transformation, the result of the first mid-mounted engine in 65+ years of Corvette history.

How would the iconic American sports car have evolved if Chevrolet had decided to keep the V8 under the hood up front? Unfortunately, we’ll never have a definitive answer to that question.
However, we can turn to a car designer nicknamed “The Sketch Monkey” for his take:
Admittedly, part of his work looks a bit too much like the previous generation, but some of the actual C8’s design cues fit nicely on this imaginary Corvette. That includes the front fascia and lip spoiler, the headlights and the rear wing. The nose is obviously longer and the side air intakes are totally different. Same thing for the doors and rear haunches.
