Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition Announced for 2021
As you know, the world premiere of the refreshed and upgraded 2020 Honda Civic Type R took place on January 9 at Tokyo Auto Salon in Japan. We learned in the process that the car will go on sale in North America by the end of winter.
Well, barely a month has gone by and the company is already announcing a new limited edition for 2021, calling it “lighter, faster and even more ferocious” than before.

Naturally, the model features all of the 2020 Type R updates, plus additional enhancements designed to make it the ultimate street-legal Type R track machine.
First, as a tribute to other limited-edition Type R models from the past, the 2021 Civic Type R Limited Edition will come in one model-exclusive colour: Phoenix Yellow. The roof, outside mirror caps and intake vent on the hood get contrasting gloss black paint, while a dark chrome Civic badge adorns the rear hatch.
Lightweight, forged aluminum BBS wheels help reduce total unsprung weight by 18 pounds, which is great, while reduced sound deadening materials and the removal of features such as the tonneau cover, rear heater ducts and rear wiper (seriously?) provide an additional weight saving of 28 pounds.
There might not be any changes to the 306-horsepower turbo engine or six-speed manual gearbox, but drivers will surely appreciate the specially tuned dampers and recalibrated steering, the latter offering maximum control and feedback, according to Honda.
Only 100 units--that's right, 100--of the 2021 Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition, each with an individually numbered serial plate, will be sold in Canada. Pricing will be revealed closer to launch.
