2021 Genesis GV80 Leaked Ahead of its Official Reveal
As you may know, Genesis is preparing to launch two SUVs by 2021 to bolster its lineup and capitalize on customers’ insatiable appetite for utility vehicles. One of them will be a midsize model based on the GV80 concept introduced at the 2017 New York Auto Show.
The company recently set up a commercial photoshoot for the production version and pictures have now leaked online via Allcarnews. They might not be the best quality, but they give us our first real look at the vehicle.

From what we can see, the exterior design will be quite similar to the original concept. The pentagon-shaped grille is simply huge—exactly like the one adorning the refreshed 2020 G90 sedan… and eerily reminiscent of Cadillac’s latest products. The front fascia is capped by split headlights and a long hood with strong character lines.
Another picture shows a luxurious, high-tech cabin with a different dashboard layout than what we’re used to. Particularly notable is the ultra-wide display perched at the top of the middle section. By the way, Genesis has one of the best infotainment systems in the industry according to a recent J.D. Power study.
With regard to powertrains, we expect turbocharged four- and six-cylinder engines to be available, and possibly a plug-in hybrid variant further down the line. A new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission has been mentioned, as well. The platform will be shared with the next-gen G80.
The upcoming 2021 Genesis GV80 will compete against the Audi Q7, BMW X5, Cadillac XT6, Lexus GX, Mercedes-Benz GLE and other midsize luxury SUVs when it goes on sale in mid-2020. An official reveal should come soon.
Genesis is also working on a smaller GV70 for the compact segment, though details about this one remain scarce at the moment.
