Long-promised Lexus LC 500 Convertible is Finally Here
Lexus wowed fans and the media alike when it launched the LC 500 coupe a couple of years ago. Now, the brand is ready for an encore with the 2021 LC 500 Convertible, which was unveiled in a world premiere at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show yesterday.
Just as spectacular as the hardtop model when it comes to styling, the LC 500 Convertible features the same exact powertrain. The 5.0-litre V8 engine is paired with a Direct-Shift 10-speed automatic transmission to produce 471 horsepower at 7,100 rpm and 398 pound-feet of torque at 4,800 rpm. Expect impressive performance even though the car weighs nearly 4,500 pounds.

Unlike the coupe, however, the convertible will not offer a hybrid variant. We’re told this has to do with a lack of space resulting from the folding top.
Speaking of which, the four-layer soft top can be opened or closed at speeds up to 50 km/h, while an animated display on the instrumentation panel shows the top’s progress. It takes approximately 15 seconds to open and approximately 16 seconds to close.
Pricing for the 2021 Lexus LC 500 Convertible remains unknown at this point. It certainly won’t be cheap: the coupe starts at just over $100,000. Sales will begin next summer.
