Mazda3 Wins 2019 Women’s World Car of the Year Award
The fourth-generation Mazda3, recently voted as The Car Guide’s Best New Car of the Year ahead of the Chevrolet Corvette and Porsche Taycan, took top honours at the 2019 Women's World Car of the Year awards held this past weekend at the Dubai International Motor Show.
It follows last year’s winner, the Volvo XC40.
An all-female jury representing over 30 different countries evaluated dozens of models based on criteria women use when buying a car, including safety, value for money, aesthetic appearance, practicality and environmental footprint.
The completely redesigned Mazda3 is widely considered one of the sexiest cars on the road thanks to the latest evolution of Mazda’s KODO design language. It also offers a comprehensive suite of advanced safety and driver assistance systems known as i-ACTIVSENSE.
Of course, the 2019 model year also marked the addition of an all-wheel drive option, improving handling and confidence in any road or weather conditions to make the drive even more fun than it already was.
Efficiency is maximized with the new SKYACTIV-X engine technology, which increases fuel economy by up to 30 percent compared to the base 2.0-litre engine. It is still not available in Canada, however.
As for the interior, the new Mazda3 stands out from the competition with high levels of refinement and a very quiet cabin.
It can be had from $18,000—or $26,000 with AWD.
Back in April at the New York Auto Show, the Jaguar I-PACE was named the 2019 World Car of the Year.
