Eight-gen Volkswagen Golf Accidentally Revealed Before its Debut
Pictures of what appears to be the eighth-generation Volkswagen Golf have just been posted on the Facebook page of VW fans in Czech Republic, one week before its official debut.
From the looks of it, the shots were taken at the German automaker’s plant that manufactures the Golf.
We’ve seen images of the upcoming Golf before, but it’s the first time the car reveals itself in undisguised trim.
The particular Golf on the picture below seems to be a mid-range model based on the five-spoke alloy wheels that are reminiscent of the ones on the current Golf Highline.
Overall, the new generation displays sharper, yet familiar lines and shapes. The hood, front bumper, mirrors and grille represent a subtle evolution from today’s Golf, while the headlights are have been stretched considerably. The lower part of the bumper is accented in black across the entire width.
Inside, the layout is awfully similar to that of the Jetta. Volkswagen’s digital cockpit combines with a large centre display for a high-tech look.
The steering wheel appears to be brand-new, but the most striking element is the gear shifter on the console. Will a manual transmission be offered in North America? We’ll find out soon enough.
By the way, the new Volkswagen Golf will have its world premiere in Wolfsburg on October 24. We’ll have full details and lots of official pictures to show you.
