Devel Sixteen Makes North-American Debut at the Toronto Auto Show
Dubai-based Devel Motors is bringing their outrageous Sixteen supercar to Canada, and it will make its first public North-American appearance at the Toronto Auto Show.
The idea to create the Devel Sixteen took place back in 2006, while research and development started two years later. In 2013, a prototype of the supercar was shown at the Dubai International Motor Show, and in 2015, the Sixteen’s engine appeared in public for the first time. A production version was unveiled at the 2017 Dubai show.
The engine in question is a 12.3-litre V16, force-fed by four turbochargers to produce an unbelievable 5,007 horsepower as well as a chin-scratching 3,757 pound-feet of torque.
According to its creator, the Devel Sixteen weighs 2,300 kilograms (5,070 pounds), so it’s by no means as featherweight. Performances numbers haven’t been announced—at least we didn’t find any.
When it goes on sale, three variants of the Devel Sixteen will be available. A V8 will power the base variant that will cost an estimated $1.6 million, while the mid-level trim will get a 3,000-hp V16 and cost $1.8 million. The 5,007-hp Sixteen should retail for about $2.2 million.
The Devel Sixteen will be one of about 30 vehicles on display at the Toronto show’s Auto Exotica exhibition, which will also include the McLaren Senna and McLaren 600LT, the Aston Martin DBS Superleggara, the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ and Lamborghini Urus, the Rolls-Royce Cullinan and the Lotus Evora Sport 410. Visitors will also be able to admire the 2005 Maserati MC12, the 1993 Jaguar XJ220, the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT, the 1996 Ferrari F50, the 2006 Ford GT Heritage Edition and Carroll Shelby’s original 1965 427 Cobra.
