Porsche Mission E Cross Turismo: Fully Electric Crossover!
After unveiling the Porsche Mission E sedan at the 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show, the German brand is getting closer to launching fully electric powertrains with the presentation of the Mission E Cross Turismo concept at this year’s Geneva Auto Show.
This new crossover EV targets buyers with an active lifestyle, of course, thanks to its all-wheel drivetrain and cargo space for hauling sports equipment. It can accommodate four people, while the rear seatbacks can be folded down to increase boot capacity. A Porsche e-bike could also be purchased that would suit perfectly with the Mission E Cross Turismo’s, ah, mission.

The powertrain consists of two electric motors—one at each end—that produce more than 600 combined horsepower. According to the company, the Mission E Cross Turismo should accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3.5 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h in less than 12 seconds. Comparisons with the Tesla Model X are obviously inevitable.
The Porsche crossover would also benefit from an air suspension—like the Tesla—and a four-wheel steering system—unlike the Tesla—that would provide occupant comfort, but also Porsche-level handling.
Inside, the instrument panel consists of an ultra-wide display, a curved driver instrument cluster and ambiance lighting. The concept’s two-tone interior is highlighted with blue accenting as well as black and grey aniline leather upholstery. Of course, the Porsche Connect infotainment system will offer a slew of services and apps, including the “DestinationsApp” that acts as a personal travel assistant.
The Porsche Mission E Cross Turismo is equipped with an 800-volt architecture, and the brand says a 400-kilometre range is possible after only 15 minutes of charging. The vehicle would also be compatible with inductive charging technology.
No plans to produce the Porsche Mission E Cross Turismo have been confirmed. However, a series model based on the Mission E sedan has been green-lighted, so a Porsche crossover EV could be in the company’s plans as well.
