2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS Presented in Toronto
It’s the most powerful street-legal 911 produced so far, and it’s on stage at this year’s Toronto Auto Show. The 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS is one of 23 different variations of the legendary sports car, but the most outrageous and the most expensive.
Thanks to a twin-turbo, 3.8-litre flat-six engine, the GT2 RS boasts a prodigious output of 700 horsepower at 7000 rpm, just 200 revs shy of this screamer’s redline. Torque is rated at 553 pound-feet from 2500 rpm. Matched to a seven-speed, dual-clutch PDK gearbox, and despite the limited grip of a rear-wheel drivetrain, the car can rocket from 0 to 100 km/h in a claimed 2.7 seconds. On a track, it can reach a top speed of 338 km/h. The 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS will also be very exclusive, in part due to its base price of $334,000.

Also on display at the German automaker’s stand is the 2018 Porsche 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series, of which only 500 units will be produced for worldwide consumption. It receives an extra 27 hp compared to the “regular” 911 Turbo S, for total output of 607 hp and 553 lb.-ft. of torque. According to the manufacturer, it can blast from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds. Base price: $293,800.
A more affordable model that made its Canadian debut is the 2018 Porsche 911 Carrera T, which starts at $116,500. It’s basically a stripped-down 911 with reduced soundproofing and reduced weight, and is equipped with a 370-hp, twin-turbo 3.0-litre flat-six.
Last but not least, the 2018 Porsche 718 GTS models are also present in Toronto. The 718 Cayman GTS and 718 Boxster GTS borrow the S trims’ turbocharged, 2.5-litre flat-four engine, but output climbs from 350 to 365 hp. As is the case with all GTS editions in Porsche’s lineup, driving dynamics are cranked up a notch for an even greater thrill behind the wheel. The 718 Cayman GTS starts at $90,600 while the 718 Boxster GTS is listed from $93,000.
