The 2019 Volvo XC40 on Display in Los Angeles
The new subcompact luxury SUV from Volvo was presented to the media today at the Los Angeles Auto Show, and it will be on sale in early 2018. In fact, The Car Guide will have to opportunity to drive the XC40 next week in Spain.
Until then, a few details on this little crossover that will join a rapidly expanding market segment. According to the Swedish brand, some 13,000 orders have already been received globally, and production is under way in the company’s assembly plant in Belgium.

On our market, the 2019 Volvo XC40 will be available with a turbocharged, 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that develops 248 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, matched to an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Other powertrains could be added in the near future, such as a plug-in hybrid and a fully electric system.
According to Volvo, the XC40 will offer up to 17 paint colour and contrasting roof colour combinations. A 221-millimetre ride height will provide the little SUV with a robust appearance, while inside, buyers will get to choose an ambient lighting system and a panoramic sunroof. Fitted as standard, the infotainment system will include a nine-inch touchscreen as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. The company also flaunts many thoughtful storage solutions in order to make life easier on board.
The 2019 Volvo XC40 will be on sale in Canada at a starting price of $39,500 before freight and delivery charges.
