Hennessey Venom F5: The New All-American Hypercar
Based in Texas, performance tuner Hennessey opened its doors back in 1991 by offering go-fast accessories and tuning kits for sports cars such as the Chevrolet Corvette, the Ford Mustang and the Dodge Viper. Over time, Hennessey started creating its own cars, and the latest one that has just been unveiled at this year’s SEMA show at quite a machine.
The Hennessey Venom F5 should boast a carbon fibre body, which would give it a curb weight of 1338 kilograms (2950 lbs.). Thanks to a twin-turbo V8 engine of yet-unspecified displacement, the car should benefit from a cavalry of 1600 horsepower, all sent to the rear wheels via a single-clutch, seven-speed automatic gearbox.

According to the manufacturer, the Venom F5 can blast from 0 to 300 km/h in less than 10 seconds, making it faster than an F1 race car. It’s also expecting the F5 to reach a top speed of more than 300 mph, or 480 km/h.
Only 24 units of the Hennessey Venom F5 will be built, and each will carry a USD$1.6 million price tag.
In 2014, Hennessey launched the Venom GT, which was equipped with a twin-turbo, 7.0-litre V8 that developed 1244 horsepower. It accelerated from 0 to 96 km/h (0-60 mph) in 2.7 seconds and topped out at 270 mph, or 438 km/h.
