Jaguar F-PACE, Winner of the 2017 World Car of the Year Award
As usual every year, the World Car Awards unveiled their winners at the New York International Auto Show. For 2017, it’s the Jaguar F-PACE that grabbed the overall title, but another trophy as well.
The World Car of the Year award was handed to Jaguar’s new SUV, which beat out the Audi Q5 and the Volkswagen Tiguan. That’s right; no cars amongst the final three contestants, only SUVs.
The World Luxury Car of the Year award was given to the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Other finalists included the BMW 5 Series and the Volvo S90/V90.
The World Performance Car of the Year award was given to the Porsche 718 Boxster/Cayman, which finished ahead of the Audi R8 Spyder and the McLaren 570S.
The World Green Car of the Year award was handed to the Toyota Prius Prime. Finalists also included the Chevrolet Bolt EV and the Tesla Model X.
The World Urban Car of the Year award was given to the BMW i3 (94 Ah), which bested the Citroën C3 and the Suzuki Ignis.
Last but not least, the World Car Design of the Year award, as mentioned earlier, was handed to the Jaguar F-PACE. Other finalists included the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet and the Toyota C-HR.
The World Car Awards jury consists of 75 automotive journalists spread across the world, including two from Canada.
