Subaru Crosstrek Concept: Second Generation in Preparation
Now that the 2017 Impreza is officially on sale in Subaru dealerships, completely redesigned and still available in sedan and five-door body styles, the manufacturer will now concentrate on the next generation of the Crosstrek. Like the current model, the crossover vehicle will be based on the Impreza, which is now assembled in the United States.
Unveiled for the first time at the Geneva Auto Show in March 2016, the XV Concept, renamed the Subaru Crosstrek Concept for its North-American auto show tour, shows off what the next-generation Crosstrek should look like. The concept also stands out by its light blue paint, its gray plastic wheel arches and its contrast orange accenting.
The vehicle boasts an elevated suspension for greater ground clearance and a more robust appearance. In the next generation of the Crosstrek, we’ll obviously find standard all-wheel drive as well as the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine of the Impreza, now featuring direct injection for an output of 152 horsepower. The production version of the new Crosstrek should be unveiled within the next year.
