Custom-built Mopars at the 2016 SEMA Show

Every year, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles serves up a bunch of one-of-a-kind models at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas. This time around, six such vehicles will be on display, including a minivan.

The Dodge Shakedown Challenger mixes modern and retro design cues to create a unique car using body panels and components from both a 1971 Challenger and a 2017 model. The car also boasts a hood scoop, SRT Hellcat Slingshot 19- and 20-inch wheels and a satin black appearance.

Under the hood of the Dodge Shakedown Challenger lies a 6.4-litre HEMI V8 that develops 485 horsepower as well as a Tremec six-speed manual transmission. That ties in nicely with FCA’s announcement that they will offer Mopar Crate HEMI engine kits, available for 1975 and earlier Mopar vehicles. The Gen III HEMI V8 will be offered in 5.7-litre and 6.4-litre displacements, with outputs of 383 and 485 hp, respectively. FCA also specifies that they are designed for use with manual transmissions, although “automatic transmissions such as the Torqueflite 727 and 904, while not optimal, can also be used for use.”

The Jeep CJ66 is built in a TJ frame on which a 1966 Wrangler CJ was installed, and highlighted with JK components. The vehicle rests on front and rear Mopar Dana 44 Crate axles for extra off-road prowess, while the 17-inch beadlock wheels are wrapped in 35-inch BFGoodrich all-terrain tires.

The Dodge Durango Shaker boasts a B5 Blue paint job, a suspension lowering kit that drops the SUV’s body by three inches, 22-inch alloys and three rows of Viper seats on the inside. It also gets—you guessed it—a functional shaker hood that’s connected to a 6.4-litre HEMI V8.

The Ram Macho Power Wagon gets a four-inch lift kit with 37-inch tires, fender flares, running boards, a heavy-duty light bar and a Macho Mango paint job. It too is powered by a 6.4-litre HEMI V8, managed by a six-speed automatic transmission. As if the “regular” Power Wagon wasn’t macho enough, this custom-built truck also boasts five-inch Mopar exhaust tips provide a more guttural note.

The Ram ProMaster Pit Stop is a showcase for demonstrating the cargo van’s customizing potential. The Pit Stop gets a hinged door that opens upwards, while a bar counter swivels down to create a refreshment stand on wheels, complete with beer on tap.

Finally, the Chrysler Pacifica Cadence shows off some highlights of Mopar’s accessory catalogue available for the newly introduced minivan. Apart from the graphics package, the Cadence is equipped with running boards, 20-inch wheels and a Mopar/Thule paddleboard/surfboard carrier. The trick minivan also includes a pet kennel so the family pooch can tag along.
