Refreshed 2017 Nissan GT-R makes more power
Nissan has given the GT-R its most significant makeover since the car launched nearly a decade ago, with a larger grille, new hood and more power highlighting the changes for 2017.
The 2017 GT-R makes an additional 20 horsepower and 4 lb.-ft. of torque, for totals of 565 and 467, respectively, from the same 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V6, with Nissan crediting extra boost and individual ignition timing control for each cylinder for the increase in power.
Outside, the car gets a new, larger version of Nissan's V-motion grille, an updated front bumper design, a new hood, wider side sills, and revised rear bodywork, including functional air vents.
A new titanium exhaust system and new 20-inch wheels round out the exterior changes.
The GT-R's cabin is virtually all-new for 2017, and includes a redesigned dashboard that features a new instrument cluster, while the centre stack gets an eight-inch touchscreen, replacing the previous version's seven-inch screen, which helps reduce the number of switches from 27 to 11, according to Nissan.
The carbon fibre centre console gets a new Display Command control system, and the paddle shifters have been wisely moved from the steering column to the steering wheel itself.
Nissan says the new GT-R will go on sale this summer.
