Porsche adds turbocharged 4-cylinder to Macan lineup
Porsche says it's adding a new base model to the Macan lineup powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
The 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder makes 252 horsepower and 273 lb.-ft. of torque, and, like the two other engines available in the compact crossover, comes mated to a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The four-cylinder Macan runs from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds—that number drops to 6.5 seconds with the Sport Chrono package—on the way to a top speed of 229 km/h.
By comparison, the Macan S, powered by a 340-horsepower twin-turbocharged V6, completes the same sprint in 5.4 seconds.
Where it falls behind in speed the new Macan makes up for in curb weight, tipping the scales at 3,902 lbs., 210 lbs. less than the S and 342 lbs. less than the Turbo.
Highway fuel efficiency jumps to 9.3 L/100 km with the four-cylinder on board, according to Porsche, a litre better than the S model.
All-wheel drive is standard, while an air suspension system with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and adaptive dampers is optional.
Pricing starts at $52,700, $6,500 less than the Macan S, and is set to go on sale in Canada in July.
