Redesigned 2016 Nissan Sentra to start at $16K in Canada
The redesigned 2016 Sentra will start at $15,898 in Canada, Nissan has announced.
The price for the base Sentra S with a six-speed manual transmission is $300 more than the outgoing version "despite significant enhancements," the automaker said.
Adding Nissan's Xtronic continuously-variable transmission (CVT) comes at a $3,000 premium on the base car, and a much more reasonable $1,300 on the SV trim.
SR and SL versions can only be had with the CVT, which includes so-called "D-Step Logic Control," which makes it feel more like an automatic.
Nissan successfully applied the technology to the redesigned 2016 Maxima and 2016 Altima, so there's no reason to expect anything different here.
All 2016 Sentra models comes powered by a 1.8-litre four-cylinder that makes 130 horsepower and 128 lb.-ft. of torque.
Fuel economy for either transmission is on par with the previous generation Sentra, with manual cars rated at 8.9 L/100 km city and 6.6 L/100 km highway, and CVT-equipped versions at 8 L/100 km city and 6.1 L/100 km highway.
Pricing for the entire 2016 Sentra range breaks down as follows:
- Sentra S manual: $15,898
- Sentra S Xtronic CVT: $18,998
- Sentra SV manual: $18,698
- Sentra SV Xtronic CVT: $19,998
- Sentra SR Xtronic CVT: $22,548
- Sentra SL Xtronic CVT: $25,998
Pricing excludes a $1,600 freight charge.
