Ferrari unveils 770-horsepower F12tdf
The last thing any Ferrari needs is more power.
That, of course, has never stopped the Italian automaker from building cars with just that.
And so without further ado, we introduce the Ferrari F12tdf, a hot rod version of the brand's F12berlinetta that makes 770 horsepower and 520 lb-ft. of torque from its massive 6.2-litre V12 engine.
Just 799 examples of the F12tdf, which pays homage to the Tour de France endurance road race, will be built, making the Corvette-looking Ferrari a rarity before deliveries even begin.
Under the hood, Ferrari engineers massaged an additional 39 horsepower and 12 lb.-ft. of torque from the F12berlinetta's 65° V12, with 80 per cent of that torque available at 2,500 rpm.
Also reworked is the car's dual-clutch transmission, which features faster upshifts and downshifts and shorter gearing than the F12berlinetta's gearbox.
How much faster, you ask?
Ferrari claims shifts are 30 per cent faster going up and 40 per cent going down through the gears.
The body has also been reworked, with aerodynamics and downforce improved in the name of speed.
And speaking of speed, the F12tdf runs from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h in 7.9 seconds, on the way to a top speed "in excess of 340 km/h."
