Ford reducing plant shutdowns due to strong demand

Demand for Ford pickup trucks and crossovers will reduce regular summer shutdowns at 10 of the automaker's U.S. plants from two weeks to one week.
According to Ford, six assembly plants and four powertrain and stamping plants will shut down only the week of June 29 as opposed to the usual two-week idling from June 29 through July 10.
The plants on reduced shutdown are:
- Livonia Transmission (Livonia, Mich.)
- Rawsonville Transmission (Rawsonville, Mich.)
- Sharonville Transmission (Sharonville, Ohio)
- Sterling Axle (Sterling Heights, Mich.)
- Buffalo Stamping (Buffalo, N.Y.)
- Chicago Stamping (Chicago Heights, Ill.)
- Dearborn Consolidated (Dearborn, Mich.)
- Kansas City Stamping (Liberty, Mo.)
- Kentucky Stamping (Louisville, Ky.)
- Woodhaven Stamping (Woodhaven, Mich.)
Ford says the decision to cut the annual shutdowns in half will result in nearly 40,000 extra units being produced.
