2017 Volvo S40, V40 and XC40: We’ll be There Live!
Swedish automaker Volvo performed a major restructure of its product line-up, and we must admit that the result is impressive. Their current models are much more competitive, and we’re anxious to discover the all-new S90 sedan and V90 wagon, the brand’s next flagship cars that will launch in June.
Those hoping for the return of a more compact model will be pleased to learn that the 40 Series will return to North America, after being only available on the European market for the last few years. The manufacturer actually revealed a few pictures of a concept vehicle this morning to whet our appetite. The Car Guide is heading to Sweden this week in order to attend the world premiere of the new 40 Series, which is definitely a very important event for Volvo.
A new SUV
the upcoming 40 Series will be built on the company’s new compact architecture, and should offer a wide range of configurations, including an S40 sedan and a V40 wagon. The first pictures also seem to reveal the arrival of an XC40, which would make sense, given the current compact luxury SUV craze. We’ll bet that this new model could quickly become the brand’s most popular model, especially in Canada, in addition to the V40 that keeps drawing attention.
The modular architecture allows the manufacturer to install various powertrains underhood, including a gasoline three-cylinder engine and a plug-in hybrid variant, all planned for 2017. A fully electric version is also in the works, which fits in with Volvo's recently announced environmental strategy.
Don’t miss our live coverage of the event, as The Car Guide will be there in exclusivity.
