The 2016 Chevrolet Cruze Serves up Extras at the Premier Level
The 2016 Chevrolet Cruze offers up exceptional pricing that starts at $15,995 for its base L trim. It may not include air conditioning, but it comes standard with a rearview camera, 10 airbags, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration as well as OnStar with 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot capability. It offers up great value for a low price, but as you move up to the other end of the spectrum—the Premier trim—the Cruze transforms into something a step ahead of the curve.
The Premier version is littered with luxuries that are unusual for the compact sedan segment. It's rare to get a full leather interior that not only elevates the seating, but also its dashboard and doors. White piping is nicely crafted into all of those areas as well for a premium look that places the Cruze Premier at a level well beyond its $23,895 starting price tag.
Digging deeper past its looks and materials, there's more to the Premier trim than meets the eye. It’s the only one to be equipped with a Watts Z-link suspension, while all other trims receive a torsion beam rear axle. The Z-link has been tuned to smooth out the bumps on the road, adjust to changing terrain and stay straight while steering spiritedly with help from a quicker steering ratio. Overall, it provides enhanced agility and a ride geared towards comfort.
If you want to go a step further, there's an RS package that can be added to the Premier version for $995. It will swap out those 17-inch aluminum wheels for low-profile tires and machined-face 18s. In addition, you will receive a rear spoiler, front fog lamps, a sport body kit and RS badging. The RS package can still be added to the LT trim; you just wouldn't receive those 18-inch wheels and it will be at a reduced cost of $695.
