The Dodge Dart and Chrysler 200 could survive
Due to disappointing sales and the price of gasoline that’s been low for a while, FCA president Sergio Marchionne announced that the production of the compact Dodge Dart and the midsize Chrysler 200 would come to a grinding halt. The manufacturer could then concentrate their efforts on SUVs of various sizes such as the Dodge Journey, the Chrysler Pacifica, the Ram division and Jeep products.
The Dodge Dart and the Chrysler 200 never were leaders in their respective segments, yet they did have their fan base. If you’re part of this group, you might be happy to know that these two cars might not be completely dead.
As a matter of fact, Sergio Marchionne is supposedly discussing with an unknown partner that would assembling the Dart and the 200. This would allow FCA to continue offering their small cars without taking up the company’s resources.
According to Motor Trend, Mr. Marchionne is negotiating with partners that are in a better position to produce small cars. Who could it be? A direct competitor, or maybe an overseas rival?
