The Full Scoop on the Quebec City International Auto Show
In Quebec, Montreal isn’t the only city to boast its very own “international” auto show. Quebec City organizes one every year—and it just keeps getting better!
The essentials
So what basic information do you need to know about the show? First, it’s taking place from March 1 to 6 at ExpoCité, a massive multiplex that includes the new Vidéotron Centre (where the next incarnation of the Quebec Nordiques will play, if the stars align just right).
The show will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on March 1 to 5, then from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 6.
Admission is $15 for adults (18 years and up), $8 for teens (13 to 17 years), and $5 for kids (6 to 12 years). Tots under 5 get in free. But note that all kids age 12 and under get in free on March 6! A family pass for 2 adults and 2 kids under 12 is just $30.
Parking at ExpoCité costs $10.
Exhibits and activities
As is often the case at foreign shows, the event is spread out in several halls due to a lack of floor space. Visitors will find the mainstream brands at the Centre de foires, but exotic car lovers will find Ford—along with Lamborghini, Lotus, McLaren, Rolls Royce, Ferrari, Maserati, Bentley, Jaguar and Aston Martin—at the Pavillon de la jeunesse.
No auto show is complete without an exciting schedule of activities. First, visitors can test exotic cars on a five-kilometre circuit or off-roading vehicles on a specially designed outdoor track. Test drives will be available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 1 to 5, and again from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on March 6. Test drives are free, but space is limited. First come, first served!
Visitors eager to catch a glimpse of the future will enjoy testing electric vehicles from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on March 1 to 5, and again from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on March 6.
If you’re looking to take the whole family to the Auto Show, you’re best off waiting till March 6 for Family Day. A wide range of free family activities will be available for kids 12 years and under who are accompanied by a parent.
Several door prizes will be awarded, including a two-year lease of a 2016 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid!
