Mercedes-Benz Shows Its C-Class Wagon In Montreal
The Montreal Auto Show will host the North-American premiere of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate. This body type has been largely ignored by buyers in favour of SUVs and crossovers. However, there is still a core of enthusiasts that can appreciate the practicality and appeal of a wagon. The fact that it has a lower centre of gravity gives it a dynamic edge and makes it much more enjoyable to drive than an SUV.
The star of the show in Montreal will be the C-Class Coupe, specifically the 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 Mercedes-AMG C 63 S –which uses the same engine found in the Mercedes-AMG GT S. With 503 horsepower, the C 63 S can get to 100 km/h from a standstill in four seconds.
Also present at the manufacturer’s booth will be the GLC, a renewed compact SUV. Replacing the GLK, this newcomer boasts fluid lines and improved aerodynamics. Engine-wise, the GLC is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder developing 241 horsepower. This powerplant is paired with a nine-speed automatic gearbox. Starting price: $44,950.
