The Hennessey Venom GT: More And More Power
The Hennessey Venom GT is currently known as one of the world’s most powerful vehicles; its 7-litre V8 is fitted with a pair of turbochargers and can generate up to 1,244 horsepower. With all this power, the Venom GT can theoretically get up to 447 km/h, though it has only been pushed to 235.1 km/h, lacking a long-enough straight away.
The Texan tuner decided that its vehicle was obviously not powerful enough; Hennessey will unveil an upgraded version of its supercar at this year’s SEMA Show. However, where more than a few manufacturers would simply add around 50 horsepower and a new set of wheels and call it a day, Hennessey went all-out: with a few modifications that enable the engine to run on E85 and an increase in turbo pressure (from 19 to 26 psi), the Venom GT now has an extra 207 horsepower, for a total of 1,451.
According to the manufacturer, the Venom GT will get from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.4 seconds, 160 km/h in 4.4 seconds, 300 km/h in 10.9 seconds and will run the quarter mile in 9.4 seconds.
Only a few Venom GTs will be built in 2016, as Hennessey is working on the next generation of its Venom, the F5.
We will be able to see the 2016 Venom GT, as well as some other Hennessey vehicles, like the Mustang HPE750 and the Velociraptor 650 at the SEMA Show.
