How Fast Is A Ford Focus RS?
Currently, the fastest Ford Focus is the ST: the little FWD hot hatch has 260 horsepower and is slowly earning itself a reputation as a very fun car to live with.
But for some people, it simply isn’t enough: they need more power, more traction (which, in all fairness, the ST lacks; the fact that its front wheels have to deal with so much power is a problem). This is why the manufacturer has announced a new version of the Focus: the RS, which will inherit the turbocharged 2.3-litre engine that currently resides in the Lincoln MKC and the Mustang Ecoboost.
So we already knew it would be fast, but we didn’t know how fast it would be. Ford just released a few numbers, and we now have our answer.
The car’s engine will generate 350 horsepower and 324 pound-feet of torque; with an overboost function, it will pump out 347 pound-feet of torque for up to 15 seconds. Since the RS will come with AWD and launch control as standard, it will scoot off the line and up to 100 km/h in as little as 4.7 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 266 km/h.
There is no exact release date for the Focus RS yet; the car will probably make its North American debut at one of the winter car shows, and we will learn more at that point.
