2016 Honda Accord: Now With More Acura
Honda just launched the updated 2016 Accord, which will arrive in dealerships next month. Most notably, the midsize sedan received some visual tweaks.
First of all, let’s talk about the front of the vehicle: Honda played the luxury card with the 2016 Accord, giving it the fascia of an Acura. Whether we look at the LED-encrusted headlights that look like Acura’s Jewel Eye –even if the name isn’t mentioned in the press release– or the 19-inch wheels (it’s the first time a stock Accord comes with wheels this big, by the way) and the new tail lights, it’s easy to see where the stylists got their inspiration.
Inside, the dashboard hasn’t changed a lot, but it now includes both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, enabling a better integration of your smartphone.
For 2016, the Accord can now be ordered with Honda Sensing, which includes a large array of safety technologies like Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) with Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) with Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). This suite is optional for all trim levels except the Touring, where it comes standard. All Accords now have a multi-angle backup camera.
Under the hood, there is still the option of a 2.4-litre four-cylinder or a 3.5-litre V6; the first is offered with a six-speed manual or a CVT, while the second gives you the option of either a manual or a conventional automatic, both with six forward gears.
