Tesla Model S: Faster Than Ever
The Tesla Model S P85D is a technological tour de force: with 687 pound-feet of torque available at 0 rpm, the car can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, which is fast enough to beat more than a few supercars.
It seems that this was not enough for Elon Musk; the Californian entrepreneur just announced that the electric sedan will receive a few important updates. Starting immediately, a new battery will add up to 24 kilometres of range; while current Model S owners can fit their car with the battery, Mr. Musk advises against it, as the price isn’t worth it.
The most interesting piece of news is the addition of a Ludicrous mode in the P85D; by replacing some of the electronic components with ones that are better suited to extreme temperatures, the engineers have managed to send even more electrons to the motors. The result is a 0-100 km/h time dealt with in 2.8 seconds.
We also learned that the Model X SUV is coming in the next two months, the Model 3 should arrive in around 2 years and that an all-new version of the Roadster is in the works…
