Volkswagen Modernizes The 2016 GLI
Volkswagen has been building the iconic GTI for a while now, and the small hatchback has earned itself a reputation as a versatile vehicle, offering practicality and driving pleasure like very few others.
In its shadow sits the Jetta GLI. While this sedan doesn’t have the same aura as its sister, it offers pretty much the same equipment and driving dynamics.

For 2016, the GLI has been updated with a new engine. Like the GTI, it receives a turbocharged 2-litre powerplant generating 210 horsepower. The sedan also gets new bumper covers that remind us of the sportiest Golf, a rear diffuser and chromed exhaust tips. 18-inch wheels come standard, as does the 6-speed manual transmission (the DSG is optional). The power is still sent to the front wheels (obviously).
VW also announced that the GLI will receive a new infotainment system offering more connectivity options (probably Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), dual-zone climate control, a Fender sound system and Volkswagen’s braking assists, which activate the brakes if there is no way to avoid a collision in an effort to minimize damage.
