Formula E Will Race In Montreal, According To Denis Coderre
In a recent press release, Montreal’s mayor Denis Coderre announced that he was hard at work negotiating for a Formula E Grand Prix for his city. If everything goes well, the series could race in Montreal in September of 2016, just in time for the 375th anniversary of the city’s founding.
According to Mr. Coderre, most drivers with whom he talked would be thrilled to race in Montreal: Alain Prost and Michael Andretti, who both raced on the circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, would be interested in a race here.
There is nothing official yet, but the mayor assured us that Montreal would have a Formula E race, adding its name to the prestigious list of venues on the 2016 calendar (like Long Beach, Beijing and Monte-Carlo).
The obvious solution would be to have the cars race on the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, but I think that if there is a Formula E race in Montreal, it will be an urban street course… if they can find a suitable location without any potholes.
