Takata Airbags: More And More Recalls
The Takata airbag recall is still ongoing, with a new wave of vehicles to be recalled. More than 10 million cars worldwide have been added to the list of vehicles equipped with a problematic airbag.
As a reminder, Japanese safety equipment manufacturer Takata was accused of selling a defective airbag model to a large number of manufacturers. When the airbag inflates, it can explode too violently and send shrapnel into the driver’s face. More than a few people have been injured and some have even been killed because of this.
The latest manufacturer to be included in this debacle is Nissan: 326,000 of their North American vehicles were supposedly fitted with defective Takata airbags.
250,967 2004-2006 Nissan Sentras are affected throughout North America, as are 12,725 2004 Pathfinders and a few 2005-2006 Canadian X-Trails.
The brand will communicate with concerned owners in June.
