2016 Fiat 500X: We're Driving It This Week
The sub-compact SUV segment is booming. The Mazda CX-3, Honda HR-V and Jeep Renegade recently joined the category, which was already populated by the MINI Countryman, Nissan Juke, Kia Soul, Subaru XV Crosstrek and Chevrolet Trax. This week, the Car Guide will be testing the Fiat 500X, the most recent contender in the competition.
Truth be told, the 500X is actually a Jeep Renegade in sheep’s clothing. Under the hood of this Italian vehicle is either the 1.4L MultiAir turbo with 160 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft. of torque, or the 2.4L Tigershark with 180 horsepower and 175 lb.-ft. of torque. The smaller mill is paired with a six-speed manual transmission, while the bigger one comes with a nine-speed automatic. Both can be delivered with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
So, what’s this sub-compact SUV like on the road? Stay tuned to find out!
