2016 Lexus RX Will Launch In New York
When the Lexus RX was launched 17 years ago, it created a niche market which didn’t yet exist: the luxury crossover. It seems that this was exactly what people wanted, since sales have been good ever since. However, the fourth-generation RX is beginning to feel dated, having been rolled out for the first time in 2008 (with a refresh in 2012). It is time to unveil the next RX, and Lexus will do so at the upcoming New York Auto Show.
In an effort to generate more interest for the event, the manufacturer sent us a teaser of the vehicle. In it, we can see large fenders, new lines for the bodywork and a large rear light. However, the roof line leaves me wondering; it’s too low for an SUV. Either this sloped metal plate is extremely large, or the Lexus LX took a page out of the BMW X6's book and reinvented itself as a half-truck, half-car hybrid…
