BC To Crackdown On Slow Left Lane Drivers
If you are thinking about driving in the left lane during your trip to British Columbia, think again: BC Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Todd Stone has announced that he’ll introduce a bill which will aid police in giving tickets to people who hog the passing lane.
“We know from a variety of data sources, whether it be ICBC, collision information, or RCMP traffic reports, that failure to keep right except to pass is actually a cause of a lot of collisions across British Columbia,” Stone said.
It’s already illegal to slow down traffic in the left lane but the fines of $109 are often overturned in court if contested. The new rules would give police more confidence that their tickets would hold up in court.
BC also just raised its speed limits on certain roads to 120 km/h!
