Here Is The 2016 Ford Explorer Police Interceptor

After showing us what the headlight pattern of the upcoming police version of the Ford Explorer would look like (I hope you memorized it!), Dearborn's manufacturer just unveiled the rest of the SUV's specifications.

First, here are some important numbers, just in case you ever think about running away from this police vehicle (a practice that The Car Guide does not endorse): The base engine is a 3.7-litre V6 with 304 horsepower. Police departments that need more power can opt for the 3.5-litre Ecoboost, with its 365 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. Regardless of the chosen engine, all-wheel drive comes standard, as does a six-speed automatic gearbox. This transmission also comes with Pursuit Mode, which quickens shifts.

The 2016 Interceptor Utility also comes standard with a surveillance system which monitors the vehicle's surroundings and warns the officers if someone approaches the SUV. Front and rear cameras also help the officers see; they transmit images to a 4-inch screen, and are equipped with washers to make sure they stay clean.

We will see the 2016 Ford Police Interceptor Utility at the Chicago Auto Show, and it should appear in criminals' rearview mirrors shortly.
