More Power For The 2015 Mitsubishi RVR
Launched in 2010, Mitsubishi’s small RVR no longer needs an introduction. It’s one of the manufacturer’s best selling vehicles, which isn’t surprising; it offers a good compromise between compact dimensions and interior room, it features a decent amount of ground clearance and is powered by a frugal 2-litre 4-cylinder engine.
However, some may find that this mill is somewhat lacking in the power department. With 148 horsepower, the RVR may struggle when trying to climb steep hills while loaded with passengers and cargo. And it’s even worse if you opt for AWD and a CVT.

Since the crossover is based on Mitsubishi’s GS platform – the same one that underpins the Lancer – we sometimes wondered why the manufacturer didn't opt to install the engines found in its compact under the crossover’s hood.
Well, this is exactly what they decided to do. Not the turbocharged 2-litre found in the EVO, mind you, but the larger 2.4-litre engine will now be available as an option for RVR buyers. With 168 horsepower, this powerplant should be gutsy enough to swiftly propel the RVR, regardless of the number of passengers sitting inside.
The 2.4-litre RVR will be distinguished from lesser versions by a blackened central grille.
Canadian pricing should follow shortly, but we know that the US model (called the Outlander Sport) starts at $21,295, which is $1,700 more than the 2-litre version.
