Updates For The 2016 Acura MDX
Acura’s best-selling SUV, the MDX, was massively redesigned for 2014. Even so, the manufacturer has decided to update it a bit more for the 2016 model year.
For a start, the six-speed gearbox that was found in the MDX will be replaced by a nine-speed transmission that we first saw in the TLX. Just like in the aforementioned sedan, the MDX will also feature a push-button gear selector, which will replace the good old shift lever.
Acura’s SH-AWD system is also coming back, but has been upgraded. The latest generation of this system features clutch packs that transfer power independently to each wheel, giving the big SUV impressive handling.
The MDX will also be available with a new suite of driving aids. Dubbed AcuraWatch, it includes adaptive cruise control, emergency braking, collision warning and blind-spot assist. It also boasts a new lane keeping system; if the sensors detect that you are about to veer off the road, it will steer the vehicle (or apply the brakes) to make sure that you won’t crash.
The 2016 Acura MDX should be available in dealerships shortly.
