The Scion iQ Will Soon Be No More
If you are currently in the market for a small city car and for some reason you are eyeing the Scion iQ, hurry up and order one: come next year, we believe that the iQ will be no more.
Scion’s vice president Doug Murtha confirmed that the decision was made to retire the iQ from the American market after the 2014 sales results came in: only 1,953 units were sold during this period. He said that while the iQ was a positive experiment (the same can’t be said of the Aston Martin Cygnet; only 140 units were sold during its production run), the USA just wasn’t ready to buy a car this small. Pricing certainly didn’t help: at $18,935, the iQ is more expensive than the much roomier Toyota Corolla.

As for the Canadian iQ, it’s possible that it will follow its southern cousin; sales for 2014 fell by almost 50%, going from 4,000 to a little over 2,000 units in less than a year. We asked Toyota for specifics, but have yet to hear an answer.
