Lamborghini Huracán GT3: The Bull Goes Racing

While Lamborghini has been building very powerful cars since the famous altercation between Ferruccio Lamborghini and Enzo Ferrari, the Sant’Agata Bolognese brand has never been a major player in the racing scene. Yes, there is a series where rich people can drive a Gallardo or a Huracan against each other (the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series) and we remember that they briefly tried Formula 1, but overall, the Italian bull rarely goes racing against its rivals.

With the recent unveiling of the Huracan GT3, this will change. Built to race in the Blancpain Endurance Series alongside Ferrari 458s, Nissan GT-R Nismos, Porsche 997 GT3-Rs and various others, this is one of the first Lamborghinis to race while being backed by the manufacturer; their very own engineers and test drivers will make sure the car is finely tuned.

The car’s chassis is made of carbon fibre and aluminium, and the vehicle is equipped with an FIA-compliant roll cage. The whole package weighs only 1,239 kilos.

To propel the Huracan, the road-going model’s V10 engine is used, albeit with a Bosch Motorsport management system and a sequential transmission. Just like the Super Trofeo, the Huracan GT3 is rear-wheel drive only.

Available right now for racing teams who want a GT3-class race car, this new Lamborghini could be yours for as little as $427,000. Obviously, this price doesn’t include the work that your car will need during the race season.
