Puritalia 427 Roadster: An Italian-Flavoured Cobra
In Milan, a sleek coupe was launched at a special event: it’s dubbed the 427 Roadster and it’s built by Puritalia. The Milanese manufacturer wanted to create an homage to the American-built Shelby Cobra of the sixties, but with a modern twist.
It features an aluminium chassis, and its bodywork is made of carbon fibre and composites. Because of this, it weighs just a little over 1,000 kilograms. The 427 also has a fully-independent suspension made using high-quality components (like Bilstein shocks and Eibach springs).
Behind the front fenders, the 427 hides an engine that would have made Carroll Shelby proud: the 5-litre Coyote V8 comes from Ford and it pumps out 442 horsepower. If you select the Supercharger option, power output jumps up to 605 horsepower. To send this power to the rear wheels, Puritalia trusts a good old six-speed manual.
Performance will probably be impressive, but the exact numbers have not been released yet. Production will be limited to 427 units, and we can expect the car to cost more than $220,000.
Just in time for the holidays!
