Mercedes-Maybach: The Three-Pointed Star's New Jewel
With the resurrection of the Maybach name, Mercedes-Benz has completed the reorganisation of their models: now, Mercedes-Maybach will be the range-topping limousines, Mercedes-AMG will offer their own sport cars, and Mercedes-Benz itself will get everything else. Granted, this doesn’t help us in the least, but S-Class buyers will be thrilled: if they wish to drive at extralegal speeds, they will go for the S63 and S65 AMG. However, if they employ a driver, they will look at the new Mercedes-Maybach series, which has just been unveiled in Los Angeles.
First of all, every Mercedes-Maybach is based on the 200mm-longer, extended-wheelbase S-Class. On the outside, the changes are subtle; a few Maybach ‘’Manufaktur’’ logos on the C-pillars, a unique front grille, 20-inch rims and various grille accents announce the standing of this car’s owner.

As you can imagine, the interior (and especially the rear) is where most of the attention went: instead of a plebeian bench seat, the sedan gets two seats that will make your La-Z-Boy feel like a lawn chair. They are of course heated, cooled, ventilated, feature a massage function and are adjustable in every conceivable position. The glass roof comes standard, and there is an available function that tints the whole roof at the touch of a button. The seats are obviously made of rich leather, but there is an option to turn every single surface into dead cow’s skin (including the roof and the speaker covers).
The complete specification list is unbelievable (the press release alone is 15-pages long), but it can be summed up easily: the Mercedes-Maybach will be the ultimate, most luxurious Mercedes-Benz in the lineup.
Sales should begin in February 2015.
