Q: QorosQloud Qubed Concept: One Hell Of A Tongue Twister

Each year, vehicle designers submit their drawings in the hope of winning the coveted prize for Best Design in the Los Angeles Auto Show Design Challenge. This competition is watched with great interest by the manufacturers, since it showcases what the future of the automotive industry might be. A theme is chosen each year, and the 2014 edition asks the following question: how will the cars of the year 2029 communicate with their driver's five senses?

While the winner of the Best Design trophy hasn’t decided yet, the Q: QorosQloud Qubed Concept might just win in the (fictional) category of Most Unpronounceable Name. Sporting a futuristic look, the small vehicle comes from China-based Qoros, a brand established in 2007.

According to them, the Q: QorosQloud Qubed Concept has been designed to learn the tastes and preferences of its owners over time, just like in a real relationship. It can learn what types of restaurants you prefer, where you frequently drive to and who is in the car with you (and even what your emotions are toward them). The computer can then analyze all this and suggest a GPS destination depending on the time of day and the mood in the vehicle. For example, if you get in the car with your spouse and you are both in a good mood, it might suggest a restaurant that you both like. However, if you are alone and sulky, the Q: QorosQloud Qubed Concept sound system will play your favourite song to try and cheer you up.

The boxy little concept also has another ace up its sleeve: if it detects that you are distracted or are driving irresponsibly, it will take over and drive itself to your destination.

You can vote for your favorite design on the competition’s Facebook page. The one favored by the public will be rewarded on November 20.
