Mercedes-Benz will Offer the Vito Van on our Shores

In the commercial van segment, Mercedes-Benz is currently the reigning champion with its Sprinter. However,  those who need a smaller vehicle for their business have to pick among Ford's Transit Connect, Chevrolet's City Express and Nissan's NV200 (RAM will launch their ProMaster City shortly), since the Germans do not offer a suitable alternative to these vehicles on our shores. To remedy this, Mercedes-Benz has decided to sell their Vito in North America. However, apparently the little commercial van wanted a different identity, since it will be known as the Metris here.

To show the modularity of their new van, Mercedes-Benz Van USA is showing four different versions of the Metris at this year's SEMA Show. Each one presents a different application of the van's massive interior:

First of all, RENNtech aimed to prove that you can actually be the coolest person at the party even if you drive there in a van. Filled with audiovisual equipment, speakers and DJ tables, this van even features a top that opens and transforms itself into a stage.

HQ Design chose to transform their Metris into a luxury VIP transport vehicle. It is equipped with the latest technologies in audiovisual equipment, and features comfort and fitment worthy of the Mercedes-Benz name.

RADO chose the firefighting business to showcase their van. It is painted bright red, and is intended as a command centre for a captain to supervise his men.

And finally, Garmin made use of the Metris' cargo space to store a golf pro shop, featuring a golf simulator used to perfect your swing.

All these Mercedes-Benz Metris vans will be showcased at the SEMA Show, and the manufacturer should announce pricing and launch date shortly.
